You will need to be a bit more specific about your father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Do you have any dates of birth and/or death?
The reason I ask is that on this site you can find: Charles 22 times John 113 times Steven 4 times Stephen 21 times!
Take a look at the family trees - especially Tree 11 (USA Vanstones) and see if you can recognise any of your family there.
Cheers,

| | Re: Hello! (7th Oct 10 at 8:02am UTC) | | You really need to sit down with Charles and get as much information as you can from him regarding brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc., etc.
You need names, places, dates.
This was something I always meant to do with my mother, but she passed away before I ever got around to it.
Don't dismiss the NY tree - New Jersey isn't that far away! I can't help with research in USA - it's something I know nothing about - but if you can find place-names, dates and names in Devon I will try to help.

(7th Oct 10 at 9:08pm UTC) | | I wish I could problem is I hate to say is I dont know where he is he left when my father was a child took all our money and left with another women leaveing my grandmother and my father and his sister beverly to fend for themselfs I know he is alive my aunt talked to him a few times, My family has fallen apart my fathers love of money { he started his own company and is very wealthy now} has trumped family he no longer cares about family just money parrents split up, I had to leave New jersey because of personal reasons I am the only one in the whole family who cares about family, I have no one to talk to about it because no one I can talk to knows anything.
The people who would know are eather out of reach or dead all I have is a bag full of family info that I have to dig up, I now live in atlanta, georgia far from my home state, now that I've told my sad story, I will post all the info I have as soon as I find that suitcase. | |

Maybe you two could get together. http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.vanstone/18/mb.ashx Also, it appears some Vanstones came to NJ in 1872. Might check the shipping records. John CHAMMINGS m. Louisa VANSTONE in 1869 and emigrated to the US in 1872. There might have been some male Vanstones with her as people typically came in groups.
