William Harry Vanstone - Posted By KarylH (karylhaid) on 9th May 10 at 1:16am
Hi All,
I'm searching for information about my mother-in-law's grandfather William Harry Vanstone. I have had very little success to date.
Here's what I know about him
DOB 16 May 1872 ?, Devon, England
DOM ?? to Helen (AKA Ellie/Ellen) Reynett Perth Co.?, Ontario, Canada
DOD 14 Feb 1942 Galt (now Cambridge), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
He and Ellie lived in Galt (now Cambridge) with their children, Jessie Dorothy (7 May 1906-12 Oct 1906), Charles Hartland (21 Aug 1907-??), Kenneth Cameron - my mother-in-law's father (4 Sep 1909-18 Apr 1976), and Marian (Aft. 1910-??).
Wm and Ellie are buried in the Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
I have some unverified information that his father's name may have been William and his mother may have been Sara. I have no information about any siblings or when he came to Canada.
(There also appears to be several Vanstones on my mother-in-law's mother's family also as she was a Johns from Devon.)
Thanks for any help or guidance!
Karyl

There was a William Henry Vanstone born in 1872 (birth registered in the last quarter in Plympton district in Devon). I am guessing he might be the William Vanstone, son of William and Caroline, in Tamerton Folliot in the 1881 and 1891 census. No sign of him in 1901 so perhaps he had emigrated. Does that sound at all probable?
